In Loving Memory of Dan Kugler - The Dan Kugler Memorial RMOC Grant

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness and even greater admiration that we come together as a community to remember Dan Kugler.  Dan was a well-respected risk management professional and so much more. He was a beloved father and husband. A charismatic and reliable friend. A thought-leader, a mentor, and a steadfast believer in creating opportunities for others, especially students who chose to pursue risk management and insurance careers.

Dan worked tirelessly for decades to give back to the profession that he loved so much.  Often described as “larger than life,” Dan captivated classrooms across the country, helping educate students and professionals alike about the world of risk management and insurance.  Dan served on the boards of both the Spencer Educational Foundation and RIMS, the risk insurance management society®, and also taught on behalf of both organizations.  Most recently Dan joined Spencer’s scholarship committee and helped select the Foundation’s 2022 recipients.

In celebration of Dan’s unwavering generosity and commitment to supporting the next generation of risk leaders, Spencer is proud to announce the first-ever named Risk Manager on Campus (RMOC) grant in his honor: The Dan Kugler Memorial RMOC Grant.

For nearly two decades, Dan participated in Spencer’s RMOC program – a program praised by both universities and risk professionals as a rewarding educational experience for students and an impactful opportunity to give back to the profession. The program brings practicing risk professionals, like Dan, to universities across the United States and Canada to present and engage with students about the world of opportunities waiting for them in this field.

RIMS has been a long-standing supporter of Spencer and its efforts to reach and support more students in accordance with the Foundation’s mission to fund the future leaders of risk management and insurance. To recognize Dan’s unparalleled dedication to advancing the risk management profession, RIMS is proud to kickoff this tribute with an initial donation of $5,000.
